Impressionism and Post-Impressionism -
Although similar movements, each has distinct characteristics.
Impressionism (1860-1900) focused on light and color using quick brushstrokes to capture the landscape or object, most often while outdoors.
Post-Impressionism, (1886-1905) while building on the Impressionistic style, emphasized personal and emotional interpretation with bolder colors and a wider range of techniques.
