Linoleum is an easily cut, inexpensive material where using simple tools it is easy to create good relief prints. Relief printing means removing material so that the remaining raised surface can be rolled with ink. The ink is transferred to the paper using pressure. Prints are made by what remains, or what is not cut away from the surface. Designing linocuts can be as simple or detailed as the artist chooses.
